Carova Beach Pictures

Sunrise at Carova

We fell in love with the remoteness and natural beauty of the Carova Beach area over 20 years ago and have vacationed there every chance we get. When the day visitors pack up and leave the beach is empty and absolutely beautiful.

For those of you not familiar with the area, Carova Beach is an isolated area at the very northernmost end of the North Carolina Outer Banks that has no paved roads and is only accessible by a 4 four-wheel drive vehicle. There is no commercial development at Carova Beach, just residential houses and the Carova Beach Vounteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Carova is a combination of the words Carolina and Virgina (CARO + VA). Carova is most famous for being the home to the feral “Banker Horses” that are descended from Spanish Mustangs that have freely roamed the area since the 1500’s.

With the Carova being so isolated there is abundant wildlife in the area:

Being a seal at Carova is hard work!!!
